Campin' at Yankee

I love, love, love Yankee Meadow. It is so beautiful up there and we always have a great time when we go. We try to make at least 1 or 2 trips up there every summer. I love that it is so close.

We went up on Friday after Chantry and I got done working, just in time for dinner. Dusty and his family, Grandma Irva, Chantry's dad, Laramy, Wyatt, Chantell and her family were already up there. It was pretty much just awesome like any of our camp trips.

We did a lot of Ranger rides, of course.

We saw some amazing scenery. We found a few lakes up behind Yankee. Chestyn was addicted to Grandpa, Laramy, and Daddy.
and a little addicted to pop.
and A LOT addicted to the 4-wheeler. He wanted to ride it the whole time! The crazy ones went swimming in the lake...this was them on their way to the lake.
We opted to swim in the stream. We went down there a couple times. Our friend The Veater's came up and played with us for a little bit, but I didn't have my camera. So until Chantell shares with me, I don't have pictures of that part hint*hint*
We did take the boys down one time though to ride on a tube. Chantell was brave and got in that FREEZING cold water to help them. They both LOVED it. We had to pretty much drag Channer away.

Of course it is not camping without a yummy dutch oven dinner. We had dutch oven chicken pot pie, it was delish!! Yummy dutch oven fruit cinnomon rolls, BBQ'd corn on the cob, fried potatoes (had dutch oven potatoes the night before) that Grandma Irva made with some yummy squash and zuccini....we had a lot to eat to say the least and it was all so YUMMY. Oh how I love camping!!

It was a fantastic trip as always. The Grandma Irva reunion is on the 14th up there in a couple weeks and I am sad we are missing it, but we already have other plans. Hopefully we can go to Yankee one more time this summer, maybe with friends or something. I just love it up there.
Thought I would add these few pictures in. If my back door comes open, both boys are out there as quick as can be. If there is water to be found, they find it. Whether it be rain, puddles, sprinklers, whatever...they love water. I love it too, other than I have to give my kids like 10 baths a day and have to wash about 10 pairs of clothes. They love it though and I love them, so what do you do? Just let em play!

When Channer was little, I signed up for emails to be sent to me from Baby Smarts and it would send games, tips, etc. for your child from ages 0-3. I was looking back through my emails they sent and one of them had an activity about teaching your child emotions. Pretty much, you act happy, sad, mad, etc. and they should respond accordingly. With Channer, it worked like a charm. I was sad, he was concerned. I was happy, he was happy. Well with Chestyn, he reacted a little different.

Here is how he acted when I was happy....Just happy!
This is how he acted when I was mad...

Just thought I was crazy.
This was what he thought when I was sad....

And this is how he reacted when I was pretending to cry.....

Not really the reaction I was looking for. I love this kid. He is just too funny.
Channer has always been so concerned if I am sad. Even when I was doing this little activity with Chestyn and pretended to cry, Channer came and gave me a kiss and said "It's okay mom, he's not meaning to laugh at you" hahahaha. My boys are the best and I love that they have such different personalties. I say Channer is more like me and shows emotions over little things and well Chestyn is more like his daddy and just makes light of all situations. Either that or he thought laughing would cheer me up, which it did.
Chestyn has stated saying a lot of new words this last week, here are a few.
Thank you
All gone
weee (when he is swinging)
He can make a snake sound
Channer has learned a few things the last couple weeks too:
The difference between left and right
How to mix colors to make different colors
How to poop without his potty seat. (I know this one should have been addressed a long time ago, but he loved it. I finally just put it away and told him we don't have it anymore).
These boys are so much fun!!!!

Topic Tuesday - The winner is...

Thank you all so much for reading my blog. Like I said, I do this blog for myself, but it is nice to know I have readers. You are all so great!! I know that I have some faithful readers that didn't leave a comment on the post, so I feel bad you are left out, but thanks for always reading anways. Thanks to SWAGBUCKS I was able to get a $10 gift card to give away. If you have not tried Swagbucks you should. I was able to buy most of my boys' Christmas and birthday presents with the gift cards I receive from Swagbucks. cards are my favorite.

I used to select the winner. It gave me #6, which happens to be Amanda Lloyd. I will be emailing you the code here soon. Unfortunate for you though, you become my topic for the day.

So Amanda is my cute friend, who I haven't seen in like 7 years. Thank goodness for blogs, we can keep up with each other. We met at Western Watts while I was going to Snow College in Ephraim. She pretty much freakin rocks!!

We only talked at work and a little bit here and there around campus. We always made plans to meet up and do something and never did. We still make plans to meet up, but never do.

So, one memory I have about Amanda is that when I quit Watts, she brought me over this cute note and a candybar telling me I was the best superviser ever. Yep, still have it somewhere. I thought it was so thoughtful of her.

Here is a pic I stole from her blog with her adorable little daughter, Paislee. I absolutely LOVE reading Amanda's blog. It is so down to earth and I can relate to many things that she writes. Even without knowing Amanda really well now, I can tell you this... she is an amazing mom and Paislee is one lucky girl cause she is so creative and always doing something fun with her. She is so in love with her husband and always speaks highly of him. Oh, and she is a Raider's fan....

I have enjoyed getting to know you better through blogs, let's really get together sometime.

Thanks again to all my readers and know that even if I don't comment a lot, I do read your blogs and LOVE them all!

15 months

My little Chestyn is 15 months old and boy is he fun. He has the FUNNEST personality ever. He makes me smile and laugh more times in the day than I could ever keep track of. Yesterday, he had his first real big crash and burn. He fell on on the cement steps at Tawyna's house. It broke my heart! Isn't he a sad little knot head?

So some fun things about Chestyn at 15 months old:

1. He loves to scare people by saying rhoooooaaaarrrr in a really deep voice.
2. His favorite toy is his green John Deere Jeep he got from his Aunt Sarah for his birthday. He fights with Channer all the time over it and carries it with him everyhwere.
3. He is learning how to make animal sounds....he can do a horse, cat, and cow really well.
4. He is starting to say a lot of words, but he doesn't repeat them a lot. Here are a few that I have heard him say a time or 2:
I want more (this one he says ALL the time)
Mom (never mama or mommy any more :(
Poop (and he pulls his diaper up to tell me he pooped)
nigh nigh (night night)
baba (says that all the time too).
bye (and he waves)

That is all I can think of right now. I usually hear a new one every day, but then he won't keep saying it so I forget.
5. He loves to give high five and everytime he does he says yaaaaaa!
6. He has an attitude and when he wants something his face goes bright red and he screams till he gets it.
7. He is still not a good sleeper and I can still count on 1 hand how many times he has slept for more than 5 hours at at time.
8. He loves to go to bed at night though. He is SOOOOO good as far as that goes. About 9:00 or 9:30, I just put him in his crib, and he goes to sleep (just wish it lasted).
9. He loves dirt. I think I have made this apparent through all my other blogs. The other day when we got back from camping, the first thing I did was bathe him....before I could get Channer out of the bath, he was out in the sandbox.
10. His babbling stories are the best and he could go on and on with those cute facial expressions.

Oh how I love him!

This morning, I was walking into the living room and found this....

From this far back, they looked so little and I laughed and laughed!
Then of course I had to get a close up. Who needs toys??

If you are a reader of my blog, don't forget to leave me a comment on the post below to be entered to win a $10 gift card from :) You have until next Tuesday!

Topic Tuesday - Who reads my blog??

I love reading other people blogs and love commenting on them, but find I don't have time to comment on every single blog post. In turn, I love to receive comments. I mainly do this blog for my own sake and my family's sake, so that I can print my book each year and have a journal. Also, it is therapeutic to me. It is like the scrapbooking I never get to do anymore because my children will ruin all of my stuff if I get it out.

So what I am trying to do is see who reads my blog. Leave me a comment and you will be entered to win a $10 gift card to Remember my comments are moderated and do not show up until after approval, so you only need to leave a comment once. You also do not have to have a blog of your own to let me know you read. I will leave it open until next Tuesday!

I really do appreciate the comments, as I am sure all you bloggers do too!

Gleave Reunion 2010

The Gleave Reunion is the BEST reunion ever!! Seriously, I wish my family had them like this. This year Grandma Irva's family was in charge and it turned out to be a great reunion. The only part I was disappointed in was that there were only like 3 talents in the talent show. I don't know if it was because the weather was so bad, or if people just did not want to be in the talent show, but I hope that is not the case next year, cause its usually one of my favorite parts.

We got to Pine Lake on Friday and within 2 minutes of getting out of the truck, this was what Chestyn was doing....and he pretty much didn't stop playing in the dirt all weekend.

We have been tent camping it this summer and actually it is quite fun. To me, it is even easier than trailer camping, although I will say it will be nice when we find a trailer we want so that I can have a toilet and a place to run when it starts to rain. It rained right after we got all set up, but only for a minute and it wasn't too bad.

We had a potluck dinner with just Chantry's brothers and sisters on Friday night (well I guess it was just us, Charla, and Dusty's families).

Chestyn loves talking to Grandma and Great Grandpa and he is a good BSer.

Of course we had to start off the evening by going for Ranger rides. McKayla, Chestyn and Aubrey loved sitting in the back together.
Saturday morning we went for a ride around the lake with Marcus and Keshia and Ashley and Jared.
Aubrey and Hesston got to ride with us.
Channer getting ready to haul his chair over for the big pot luck lunch on Saturday.
The lunch they do on Saturday is always so fun and sooooo yummy. They make dutch oven potatoes, mutton (yuck), ham, and everyone brings a pot luck. There are so many yummy salads and desserts that I have to go back a lot haha. There were 273 people there this year and that makes for a big variety of food and a lot of fun.

I have no idea who these guys are, but I thought it was a funny picture and you see this everywhere at the Gleave Reunion.
Grandma Irva was taking money for the raffle. They raffled off a gun, a camera, and then then people put in a lot of great things in the general raffle.
I had to take Channer up the hill to go potty and so thought I would take a picture of the crowd while I was up there.Channer and Stetson had so much fun together all weekend. They are so shy when they first get together and it takes them a while to talk, but once they get going, there imaginations never end.

Of course in the middle of everything, it had to rain again. It rains every year at the Gleave Reunion, I swear. It was okay though, we all just huddled together wherever we could find shelter.
Chestyn missed his race and Channer too, but we got Channer in with the 5 and 6 year olds. This picture is really blurry and a boy is standing in front of Channer, but anyway, he raced.
Chantry had fun in the horseshoe competition.
My boys just love their Aunt Chan.
So I am ashamed to say that we are in the Brindley family and have a child that had not been on a 4-wheeler yet and he is 15 months old. Lots of Ranger rides, but never a 4-wheeler, so this weekend he finally went on one....and of course loved it. (I really really do clean his face sometimes I swear, guess I am going to have to be better at that).

Roger and Lavere on this not-so-much-redneck-very-safe 6 wheeler.
Sunday after breakfast we decided to end our fun weekend by going for a ride around what we call "the loop." We try to go on this ride every year. It is just short, but a lot of fun.

We had Channer, Chestyn, and Stetson in the back and they all kept falling asleep on each other. Towards the very end, both Stetson and Channer were asleep on Chestyn and he did not like that much and popped out wondering what the heck was going on.

When we got back from our ride, it started pouring rain and unlucky for us, we hadn't packed anything up yet, so we were hurrying as fast as we could to gather things up and take our tent down. It was a muddy mess to say the least. We had such a fun weekend and I cannot wait til next year.
