A very Merry Christmas!

WARNING: This is going to be a long post with a lot of journaling because I want to remember a lot of little details about our Christmas and it is my last blog of the year, so will be journaling about that too....so feel free to skip through all the boringness and look at the cute, adorable, fun pictures of my boys!

We had a wonderful Christmas. We were all soooo SPOILED and not just with material things, but we were surrounded by so many people that mean the world to us. We have so many reasons to count our blessings. I mark this as my very favorite Christmas ever, yes even better than when I got the Kid Sister I had begged for when I was little.

CHRISTMAS EVE
The morning of Christmas Eve I took the kids to see Santa. We found him down by Deseret Book and he was giving out awesome prizes. The kids were both a little hesitant to sit on his lap, but after they saw they got a toy, they were good to go. Chestyn was really tired and laid his head right down on Santa's shoulder and made himself comfortable. (These are from my phone, so not so great).

Then we headed over to Chantry's dad for our fun Brindley Christmas party. It is on Christmas Eve every year and we have such a great time. I left my camera at home and since Chantry's dad lives out in the middle of no where, I never went home to get it....so this is the only picture I got ALL day and it is of everyone playing bingo.

I know my sister-in-law, Charla, took lots of pictures, so when she shares, I will post more.
We did have such a wonderful time though. We played some Minute To Win It games and bingo. One tradition that the Brindley family does every year is help families in need. Well this year, we just did not have any families to help. I am sure there were plenty out there that could have used it, but between us procrastinating and other things, we didn't have a family this year. We did do something though to show the kids to care for others and to give to others on Christmas Eve. It was a very neat experience and may just be a new tradition. We took baskets of goodies to the people at the care center. When we walked in, we found a nurse and asked who we could give the baskets to. She said she hated to pick, as there were several that hadn't had any visitors and do not ever have any visitors. To me that was sooooo sad. How can people just put someone they love in a home and not ever go see them, let alone for Christmas. We took the baskets around to a few people and sang them some Christmas songs. The first lady we sang to cried and you could tell it just meant so much to her. It was a very neat experience and next year we are hoping to make SEVERAL plates of goodies to take to them.
We all went back to grandpa's house and waited for Santa to come. I really will have to get the pics from Santa. Chestyn screamed his head off this time and Channer was really shy.
Then, we opened presents!! We ALL were so spoiled. My mother-in-law got all of the girls a REALLY nice purse. She put them all in bags and had us draw numbers and open them that way and then we could take the person before us etc. It was so fun and all the purses were so cute, but I definitely think we all ended up with th purse that fits us the best. She also gave us a cow again this year. Best present ever!! AND she spoiled my boys with Cars Cuddlies, pjs, playdough, and board games. PLUS an awesome 72-hour kit that she put together.
My father-in-law spoiled us as well. He got me my Kindle (Chantry paid for part and he paid for part). Chantry got all kinds of stuff that he picked out (camping chair, bullets, shirts, knife), and he got both the boys awesome toys!!
I love the way the Brindley family does their gift exchange. We all draw names, adults and kids together. It was fun picking out and getting gifts for the people we had.
We had a wonderful party indeed and it was time to go home, go to sleep, and wait for Santa to come.
I always buy the boys Christmas PJs and a new Christmas book. We opened those and sent the kids to bed. Channer slept in our bed so that we could surprise him in his room in the morning.
CHRISTMAS DAY
Santa came!!!! He spoiled the boys. (Note to Santa: Next year just put Channer and Chestyn's name on everything so that they do not fight. All I have heard this week is "that was mine" or from the mouth of Chestyn a very mean "MINE." Thanks Santa)

As I said, Channer slept in our room. He woke up several times in the night asking if Santa came and of course Chantry and I got NO sleep with him in the middle of us. Well I think I was just a little excited because I was WIDE awake at about 4:30 and could not go back to sleep. Finally a little after 6:00 Chantry woke up and said should we wake the boys up. Of course I was sooooo ready. All it took was one little whisper in Channer's ear saying Santa came and he was wide awake. Chestyn is always sooo happy when he wakes up, so it was easy to get him out of bed too.

Santa brought Channer a big Buzz Lightyear, some board games, some books, sheets, and blankets, Tag Reader books, and a stocking FULL of stuff. He brought Chestyn a hippo counting game, a Sit & Spin, sheets, blankets, bath toys, books, and a stocking FULL of stuff.
Then we told the boys to go see their Christmas present from mom and dad in Channer's room. They LOVED it. They were both so excited for bunkbeds it was crazy. I had debated on doing them for Christmas since it is something we would just have to buy anyway, but glad we did. Channer was sooo excited.
Note: The day before Chantry took the boys to the DI so that I could wrap presents and Channer saw a bunkbed and told Chantry that he has always wanted one of those and that he would sleep on the top and Chestyn could sleep on the bottom. So, after that, we knew he would be excited.

Now I just hope we do not have any broken bones with these monkeys.
Grandma and Grandpa always make their rounds on Christmas morning to see what everyone got, so the boys just played while we waited for them.

and Chantry and I opened our presents from each other. We usually do not do much for each other for Christmas, but this year we were both spoiled. He got me of course part of my Kindle, a massage certificate (my favorite), some clothes, a new pillow, a Christmas bear that he gets me every year, an electric griddle, some necklace sets from the boys, and a stocking full of stuff. I gave him a bug shield for his truck, a Tassimo (its a coffee, cappaccino, hot chocolate maker), a Shop Vac, CD's, and a stocking full of stuff.
Like I said, we were VERY spoiled this year and I honestly found myself crying a few times throughout the weekend just thinking about how truly blessed we are. I love my little family more than the world and they made this Christmas such a special one.
Christmas day we went back over to Grandpa's house and had breakfast and just played all day. Chantry went shooting with the guys while us girls stayed back and played games with the kids. It was a wonderful day and went by so fast!
Sunday, I was up first thing putting away decorations. I love love love Christmas, but after its over I cannot wait to clean up. The boys had fun playing in totes and watching Toy Story.2010 has been good to us and I can only hope for the same in 2011.
Chantry and I both started new jobs this year, both for a wonderful change. I started with Advanced Transcription February and LOVE it. It is crazy to think I have been a transcriptionist for 3 years now and I love it!! Chantry started with Con-Way Freight in October and is loving it too. It was a change from Yellow at first, but now is liking a lot of the changes.
Channer has started school and learned so many new things. He never fails to amaze me! Chestyn has learned to walk, talk, and tries do anything his brother does. It is crazy to me to think back to last year and think that Ches couldn't walk. They grow so FAST!! I love my life...how could I not...when I have this:

Pillow Pets

Channer had asked his grandpa to get him a pillow pet for his birthday months before his birthday. Well of course grandpa came through and brought him his pillow pet. He loves it! Chestyn loved it! They fought and fought over it!

So, when Chantry and I went to Vegas, we brought the boys home a surprise and we decided to get Chestyn a pillow pet too, so they would stop fighting.

They both love them. I love, love, love hearing Chestyn say it. Seriously adorable! They have spent the last few days looking mostly like this....since it has been too cold to go out. Look how happy a simple pillow can make them :)

I had baby Skyler for a little while the other day and well I think he liked the pillow pet too!

Confession: I would like a pillow pet for myself, they really are comfy and cute. ;)

FUN AT GRANDPA'S

Last Friday, we had plans to go with Chantry's family to Tuacahn and watch the live nativity, but rain did now allow, so we decided to go watch a movie at his dad's and have a little party. We all brought pot luck and had a great time. We got the Christmas tree in and presents wrapped for our party. The kids had so much fun, as usual.

Just made me that more excited for Christmas and our fun party :)

Just some thoughts on my mind :)

I have always liked this poem and find it to be so true. I find myself snapping at my kids here and there and pretty much every time get put into place with a hug or an I love you that makes me stop in my tracks and think about my actions. I think people treat their spouse and kids worse than they would a complete stranger and that is sad that they get the brunt of our bad days. I think kids learn at a young age that parents and siblings will pretty much love them no matter what and they can get away with treating them sorely. I love my little family and hope that I can treat them with as much respect as I would my bank teller or cashier at the supermarket...actually better because that is what they deserve. They are the ones I love most.

I ran into a stanger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.
But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down. "
Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Always be my mommy

Coversation between Channer and I:

Me: Your my buddy.
Channer: Your my girl. (ahh melt my heart).
Me: Love you my buddy.
Channer: Love you my girl. (even more melting).
Me: I hope I will always be your girl.
Channer: I don't think you will always be my girl because I might find another girl when I am a daddy. (sad face)
Me: Can't I still be your girl?
Channer: No, but you can always be my special mommy. (Ok, I will settle for that).

Vegas Baby!

Chantry and I had such a great trip together in Vegas this weekend with some good friends. We left our boys and I was so nervous, but I knew they were in good hands. Chantry's mom came over and stayed with the boys for 2 nights...yes 2, first time!!! I have a few memories I want to write down, but the only pictures I got to go with it were blurry. We had such a good time though.
We met up with our friends, Marcus and Keshia, who had been there since Wednesday for NFR. I love, love, love hanging out with these guys. They are the couple we spent the most time with while we were dating. Keshia and I were together when we met Chantry and Marcus. The whole meeting and dating story may have to be a whole new post in and of itself, but we had some super fun times. I love watching Chantry and Marcus get together because they are cousins and have been friends for soooo long that listening to their memories is HILL-AR-I-OUS to say the least.

After we got there we headed to the motel to check in and ate at the buffet. Then headed on over to Cowboy Christmas. I had never been and it was sooo fun. They had so many vendors. It was pretty much like a boutique with every vendor you could imagine, plus some. For dinner, we headed to the Cheesecake Factory (after a long adventure to a Texas Roadhouse that does not exist). On the way, we got a flat tire. Ruined our plans of going to a show, but made for a very fun-filled night regardles. ****Just something I want to remember**** At one point, I asked Chantry how he was enjoying our mini vacation without the boys....his reply was "I don't look at it as being away from my boys, but I am enjoying my time alone with my wife." How sweet is that. We really do love out time alone, but we miss our boys like crazy.

Saturday was another fun day. We headed over to the Cowboy Christmas at Mandalay Bay. Even better...even bigger...more shopping. I could have spent a ton of money, if I had it :) Of course there was some more yummy food in there and Chantry and I relaxed in the motel for a bit while Marcus and Keshia headed to NFR. They had tickets already and we didn't really care to go and not be able to sit together, so we did our own thing. Chantry and I walked down the strip a ways. I love Vegas, because I am a people watcher, big time. I could sit all day and be entertained. In our short hour or so walk we saw: A guy with snakes wrapped around him, a stone man, little boy playing the piano (not sure where his parents were), a guy with several parrots taking pictures of people, KISS, star wars characters, a few other people playing instruments for money, someone with a sign that read "smile if you touch yourself", several butts about to fall out the bottom of dresses, a pimp. Yes, entertained to say the least.
Saturday night we went and saw the hypnotist at Planet Hollywood. If you haven't seen that show, go. It was sooooo funny. Afterwards, we headed over to see where Pawn Stars is filmed. Sign said 24 hours, but they were closed. Looked in the window and realized they make it look much bigger on the show. It was fun anyway.

Sunday, we headed home after breakfast. We had such a great time and it was a fun little vacation for the two of us. My mother-in-law is pretty much awesome. She spoiled the kids rotten and I of course came home to a cleaner house than I left. Thanks so much for watching the kids. They had so much fun and they could not ask for a better grandma.

Pics of my boys that Grandma took on my phone. Ya, they were pretty much SPOILED!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHANNER

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! to my incredible, cute, adorable, trouble maker, smart, funny 4 year old boy!!!

So first of all, I have to say that I tend to go overboard with birthdays because we did not really celebrate them too much growing up.

We celebrated Channer's birthday last week. His actual birthday was on Thursday. The morning of his birthday, he woke up to streamers and balloons leading a trail from his room to the living room. He was so excited!!! We spoiled him rotten. He got Toy Story 3 from Chestyn and Cars sets that he has been wanting with the semis and cars off the Cars movie. (don't mind the naked Channer pics, sure you are all used to them by now).

He also had preschool and got to bring treats. He chose out some cute cupcakes with Lightening McQueen rings on them. He got to wear his new Lightening McQueen sweater we gave him, and he was soooo excited to bring some of his new toys for show and tell.

When I picked him up from school, I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday and his reply was, "go to Cal Ranch." So we made a trip there and over to the Family Dollar to spend his money that Grandma Nielsen had sent him.
On the way home we picked up a Happy Meal for lunch and he wanted to eat it at home so he could play with his toys rather than play on the play place. :0)
Channer has been talking about how he wanted to go for a ride in a cop car FOREVER. Well thanks to Uncle Ladd, he got his wish. Channer was soooooo excited. The cop came to our house and I told Channer to go and he was really hesitant, so Ladd told me he would stay with Chestyn if I wanted to go with Channer. After that, Channer was ready to go. The cop let him turn on the lights and sirens, talk in the CB, and look at himself on the video camera. He turned on the lights and then he got out to see what they looked like and he looked up and said, "This is the BEST birthday EVER." Way to go Uncle Ladd!! This is the only picture that turned out. My flash was not working for some reason. Channer's birthday party was not until Saturday and he could not wait. Of course what other theme would we pick than Cars?!?
So here is the story about the cake...I had planned for months on how I wanted to make a great cake. So I talked to my sistern-in-law, Kim, who makes awesome cakes and has made tons of wedding cakes and is pretty much a pro. She told me how to do the fondant, etc. I wanted it to be a tiered cake that had a road going up, etc. Well I froze the cakes the night before and started decorating in the morning. Got the second layer of 3 done and it collapsed on one side. I thought I could fix it, but nope, it was to crumbly. So I chucked it all in the garbage and built this one. I was actually happy with it and it was my first time making fondant and I think it turned out ok. Not what I had in my mind, but it was okay.
Channer loved it and that is all that matters right?
His birthday party was fun. He had lots of friends, cousins, aunts and uncles there. Of course Grandma Marcia and Grandpa Charley were there too. My brother, Hartly, and his wife, Yumei, drove from Richfield. Channer had a house full of people just for him and he was happy as can be.

So the party was a success and thanks everyone who came.
We spent Sunday decorating for Christmas. Now I am soooo ready for Christmas to be here. LOVE the holidays. Kids make it so exciting.
Channer got a tree in his room too and he was so excited to decorate it. He did a pretty dang good job too. We are planning to make some cute ornaments throughout the month to add to it too.
Of course we ended our weekend with a fun Ranger ride too.
